The Greater Ridgecrest YMCA recently welcomed families for an exciting end-of-summer celebration, the Back-to-School Dayz event on Saturday, August 9, from 11 AM to 2 PM. Everyone knows the Greater Ridgecrest community shows up to support one another, and this event was no exception, bringing together YMCA members, local families and community partners for a day full of celebration.
Tiffany Brown, Executive Director at the Greater Ridgecrest YMCA, shared, “This year, we were proud to have the support of 28 local organizations, companies and churches who partnered with us to make the event possible. This was our largest turnout yet, and I know everyone is looking forward to watching this event grow and serve even more families in Ridgecrest.”
Over 230 backpacks filled with essential school supplies were distributed to children and teens in attendance, helping students start the school year prepared and confident. Families were thrilled to receive these thoughtful packs, and the smiles on kids’ faces were a clear reminder of the positive impact a supportive community can have.
This event wouldn’t have been possible without the dedication of our amazing community partners, including six local churches that joined forces to help make the day special. Their support, combined with the efforts of YMCA staff and volunteers, created an atmosphere of generosity and care that truly reflected the spirit of the Greater Ridgecrest community.
A special shout-out goes to Grant’s Seafood & Crab, who generously provided free chicken and fries for everyone in attendance. Their contribution added an extra layer of fun and enjoyment, keeping guests fueled and happy as they celebrated the end of summer and prepared for a successful school year.
We are so grateful to everyone who came together to make this event a success, and you too can support the YMCA today, help us continue serving families and build a stronger, more connected Ridgecrest community.
