Swimming at the Y helps people thrive—in and out of the water. Swim lessons provide kids, teens and adults with the opportunity to set goals and achieve success, learn water safety and enjoy swimming as a form of exercise. Through swimming lessons, swim teams, lap swimming and more, the YMCA of the Suncoast provides a safe environment for swimmers of all ages and abilities.

Swim Lessons

Take your child to the Y and complete a swim test and talk to your YMCA's Aquatics Team. Students can register for one of eight stages under our three swim categories depending upon their age and current swim ability.

Lifeguard Training

YMCA Lifeguard Training is a comprehensive course that focuses on water rescue, safety and prepares lifeguards to anticipate and prevent dangers. Upon successful completion, participants are qualified to work at an aquatics facility as a certified lifeguard. Participants must attend all classes and successfully pass exams to receive certification.

Swim Teams

We introduce younger swimmers to the team environment and teach all four competitive strokes while more experienced swimmers develop their technique and endurance level.

Water Safety

Do you know your child's true ability in the water? As a leader in drowning prevention, the YMCA of the Suncoast teaches FREE safety around water lessons.

United States Masters Swimming

Masters Swim is a blend of fitness and competitive swimming for adults 18 and older. The structured workouts use techniques of interval training with a focus on fun, fitness and friendship.

Swim Test

All children 13 and younger must participate in a swimming skills test and will be assigned a green, yellow or red band. These bands assist our lifeguards in keeping swimmers safe.

FLOAT

The YMCA's FLOAT program is a 1-to-1 Infant & Toddler swim safety program.
