Swimming at the Y helps people thrive—in and out of the water. Swim lessons provide kids, teens and adults with the opportunity to set goals and achieve success, learn water safety and enjoy swimming as a form of exercise. Through swimming lessons, swim teams, lap swimming and more, the YMCA of the Suncoast provides a safe environment for swimmers of all ages and abilities.

Pools and Waterparks

Cool off at one of our many pools, splash pads and water slide parks where you can kick, jump, swim and splash the days away. Staying active in and out of the water is just one of the many ways the Y strengthens us all. You can even hold a birthday party at the a YMCA

Water Exercise

Water Exercise is low impact and ideal for all fitness levels. Classes provide motivation, aerobic choreography, improved cardiovascular endurance and muscle conditioning / tone by using the buoyancy and resistance of the water. Non-swimmers welcome.

Swim Test

Together, we keep kids safe in and around water. The YMCA is committed to providing a safe and enjoyable pool experience for everyone.

All children 13 and under must participate in a swimming skills test and will be assigned a green, yellow or red band. These bands assist our certified lifeguards in keeping our inexperienced swimmers safe. Thank you for your cooperation.

Swim Strokes

Having mastered the fundamentals, students learn additional water safety skills that prevent chronic disease, increase social-emotional and cognitive well-being, and foster a lifetime of physical activity.

Swim Basics

Throughout all stages, we teach students how to be safer and more comfortable in the water. Check out stages 1-3 and consult our swim staff to find the right swim lesson for your child.

Swim Starters

Accompanied by a parent, infants and toddlers learn to be comfortable in the water and develop swim readiness skills through fun and confidence-building experiences, while parents learn about water safety, drowning prevention and the importance of supervision.

The Y’s new swim lesson program is designed to help participants reach their goals and provide a clear swim lane to being safe and having fun in the water!

Swim Lessons

At the Y, we believe swimming is a critical life skill. When you learn to swim, you gain confidence, acquire safety /rescue skills and experience water activities you can enjoy for a lifetime. Throughout all stages, we teach students how to be safer and more comfortable in the water.

Swim Teams

A great way for kids and teens to make friends, have fun and enjoy a little bit of friendly competition. We introduce younger swimmers to the team environment and teach all four competitive strokes while more experienced swimmers develop their technique and endurance level.
