Take your child to the Y and complete a swim test and talk to your YMCA's Aquatics Team. Students can register for one of eight stages under our three swim categories depending upon their age and current swim ability:
Take a look at the swim progression chart to help you decide which class to register for.
Whether you are interested in getting comfortable in the water for the first time, want to improve your form or swim faster, private swim lessons are perfect for those who prefer one-on-one attention.
Accompanied by a parent, infants and toddlers learn to be comfortable in the water and develop swim readiness skills, while parents learn about water safety, drowning prevention and the importance of supervision.
Throughout three different levels of lessons, students will learn personal water safety and the fundamentals of swimming while building confidence and control around water.
After mastering the fundamentals, students learn additional water safety skills that prevent chronic disease, increase social-emotional and cognitive well-being and foster a lifetime of physical activity.
The FLOAT program is intended for infants & toddlers ages 1 to 4 years and is available to members and non-members of our YMCAs.
If you need additional help in determining your child’s swim stage please consult with our swim staff at the Y.
