In recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Greater Ridgecrest YMCA brought the community together to honor loved ones, support those affected by breast cancer and promote the importance of early detection and preventive care.

On October 3, the Y hosted its 11th Annual Pink for Purpose 5K Walk/Run, one of the branch's largest events of the year. The event brought participants together for a morning of awareness, encouragement and support for an important cause.

Throughout the month, Ridgecrest continued its efforts to promote breast cancer awareness through activities like the Pickle in Pink Pickleball Tournament. The Y also offered free health screenings, including blood pressure, BMI, glucose and cholesterol checks, along with flu vaccines for eligible individuals, helping community members take proactive steps toward better health.

Pink for Purpose is about more than raising awareness. Donations from the event support the Greater Ridgecrest YMCA Annual Campaign, helping provide access to YMCA programs for local individuals and families who might otherwise be unable to participate.

Through events like Pink for Purpose, the YMCA of the Suncoast continues to bring people together, promote healthier lives and ensure more members of our community have access to the programs and resources they need to thrive.
