An expansion project is underway for the Greater Palm Harbor YMCA. The construction to add nearly 10,000 square feet of program space to the facility will feature a 5,000 square feet field- house and two new multipurpose rooms, which will serve middle schoolers, Teen Leaders and active older adults. A new playground accessible for all children is also in the works.

Seth Milbrand, District Vice President, notes the project should be complete by early June.

“We are so excited about this project. Concrete has been poured and the walls are up. The roof will be on soon. The multipurpose rooms have started to take shape. The locker rooms are being remodeled and members have been very flexible in utilizing the temporary locker rooms. Our new Kids Zone is set to open very soon and we'll then begin work on a new cycling room and functional training center, the Power Zone.”

The project has been mindfully planned to accommodate additional programming.

“This new space will allow us to serve our community in new and unique ways. More kids will have the opportunity to attend summer camp; teens and tweens will have a safe, fun new space to hang out; kids and adults will be able to play more sports like basketball and volleyball; seniors will have a new space to connect with others. Our community will be an even better place to live because of the greater impact that will happen at our Y."

We are eagerly looking forward to seeing the completed facility.
