Be Water Smart from the Start

There is a list of basic life skills all parents instinctively know they must teach their children to keep them safe and healthy. It includes habits like looking both ways before you cross the street, washing your hands with soap and water and eating the right amount of fruits and vegetables every day.

For too many parents, safety in and around water is not on the list; and that's something we need to change.

Stan and Betty Olsen donate land for Citrus County YMCA

Citrus County's cause to bring a permanent YMCA facility to the area made significant progress on Tuesday, November 11, when Stan and Betty Olsen officially donated 18 acres of land to the YMCA of the Suncoast.

10th Annual Kids' Fishing Challenge

The Greater Palm Harbor YMCA is hosting the 10th Annual Kids' Fishing Challenge presented by Marshall Petruccelli Civil Trial Lawyers on Saturday, June 13. The catch and release fishing event will give up to 250 children ages 12 and under the opportunity to fish at Wall Springs Park in Palm Harbor.

May is Older Americans Month and the YMCA of the Suncoast encourages all adults 50 years and older in to get motivated and develop behaviors that are crucial to healthy aging, including healthy eating, increasing physical activity and social interaction.

Ceremonial Groundbreaking: Building What Matters

The YMCA of the Suncoast is pleased to announce the official groundbreaking ceremony for the Citrus Memorial Health Foundation YMCA on Friday, May 1, at 10 a.m. The ceremony will take place on the north side of County Road 486, about 3/4 mile west of County Road 491, on the north side of the highway.

At the Y, our volunteers give their time, treasure and talent.  They enhance our programs by coaching and together volunteer more than 53,000 hours annually. In addition, our volunteers lead the efforts to communicate the Y's cause and a majority of them GIVE their treasure. Everyday these "Discovered Treasures" are strengthening the community.

21st Annual Charity Golf Tournament

The J.P. Gills Family YMCA 21st Annual Charity Golf Tournament will be on May 15. The event will be held at the scenic Fox Hollow Golf Club in Trinity and it's limited to the first 120 participants. This will be an excellent day on the links all while helping the Y with their mission to strengthen the community.

YMCA of the Suncoast Golf TournamentThe event tees off with a lunch and registration from 12-1 p.m. This is a four person scramble tournament with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. Each golfer will receive a polo shirt, goody bag, lunch and buffet dinner.
