February is American Heart Month, and as a leading community-based organization dedicated to improving the nation’s health, the YMCA OF THE SUNCOAST offers the following tips from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) to help families in our community reduce the amount of sodium in their diet.
There are many reasons to join the Y - building endurance, losing weight, strengthening your heart. When you join the Y, you’re committing to more than simply becoming healthier. You are supporting the values and programs that strengthen your community. Here's a story about a group of active ladies from the Greater Palm Harbor YMCA that decide to build more than muscle- one stitch at a time.
At the Y, we have a deep passion for aquatics and want all kids to learn how to swim. During Safety Around Water Week, we give kids ages 3-12 this opportunity. If your kid is a non-swimmer or a beginner, join us as we teach children basic swimming skills that keep them safe and build their confidence in the water.
WE LOVE OUR MEMBERS! It is Member Appreciation Day; stop by our Y locations on Tuesday, February 14, so our team can say thank you for being a member and a part of an organization that is Building More than Muscle!
With a commitment to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility, the Y meets all people where they are and works to remove barriers- such as food insecurity, chronic disease and social isolation.
When dealing with life’s daily demands, people need a place to go where they can feel supported and receive help in trying times. A place where adults can find life balance; children can reach their full potential; seniors can be active and find camaraderie; and families can connect and strengthen relationships.
The YMCA of the Suncoast is pleased to announce the election of John Connelly as chair of the nonprofit's board of directors. Connelly will provide leadership to the 29-member board, which sets strategic direction and policy to guide the Y's work through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.
