Preschool Classes
Little Learners Playschool
Starting Wednesday, September 1st, 2010, Ms. Lisa will again take our preschool children into the wonderful world of learning and fun. Children will be doing fun and education activities: learning colors, days of the week, alphabet and number recognition. They will be exploring science, art and working on some fun cooking projects. They will need to bring their lunch and wear closed toed shoes.
Day: Monday/Wednesday/Friday Time: 9:30am - 12pm
Ages: 2 1/2 - 5 years old (Must be potty trained)

NEW: Toddler Time
New Class for Toddlers! Join us as we start having fun with other Toddlers! We will be exploring science, art and working on some fun cooking projects.

Rookie Tennis
This fun program teaches children the fundamentals of tennis - all while having fun.

Rookie Monthly Sports
Each of these programs is a fun way for kids to learn general sports skills and fitness techniques. We will play organized games that will help your preschool child learn to follow instructions and have fun playing sports. We teach sportsmanship and fair play. (Three week sessions)

Preschool and Elementary Dance
Ballet • Tap • Tumbling
For Kids Ages 3 to 7 Classes Begin in September!
The North Pinellas YMCA Dance Program is designed for children ages 3 and older. Classes are progressive and continue throughout the school year (monthly tuition is due before the 2nd class meeting of each month). Skills are mastered and combined into choreographed routines for Winter and Spring performances. Students must register by Nov. 1st to participate in the Winter Recital, and Feb. 1st to participate in the Spring Recital.
Ballet and Tap classes are taught by Laura Hudson, a member of the YMCA. Laura has taught dance lessons for 15 years, and this is her 8th year at the North Pinellas YMCA! She has a strong background in ballet and tap, and is a natural with young children. We’re sure that your child will enjoy our dance program, so join the fun today! Please note that this program is for kids only, and after the 1st class parents are asked to wait outside the classroom.
Level I Ballet, Tap and Tumbling
Consists of Ballet and Tap with tumbling time each week. Children learn basic ballet skills and beginner tap steps. Supplies needed: Ballet shoes, Tap shoes and dance leotard; tights and skirt optional. Note: All classes Beg I and above are for kids only! Children must be able to attend class on their own, as visitors can be a distraction. Parents are invited to observe during the last 10 minutes of each class.

Level II Ballet, Tap and Tumbling
Ballet instruction includes classical ballet technique and center work. Tap instruction includes traditional tap steps, walks and terminology. Each class concludes with tumbling time! Supplies needed: Ballet shoes, Tap shoes, and dance leotard; tights and skirt optional. Note: 4-year-olds who have completed a full year of Beg I may register for this class upon recommendation from Mrs. Laura.
Ages: 5 to 7 year olds
Day & Time: Wednesday, 6:15 - 7:15
Monthly Fee: $45 Facility Members/ $68 a month for *Program members

TUITION DUE DATES: All tuition must be paid by the 2nd class meeting for your child to attend that month’s session (dates highlighted above). Winter Performance counts as a class. No show fee required. Instead, we ask that all participants pay the full monthly tuition amount. Thank you.
Elementary Special Classes
Parent’s Night Out
Attention parents: Are you looking for an night without the kids? Children will enjoy open play; fun and games; pizza and juice; and end the night with a movie and popcorn. Your kids will have fun while you enjoy a night out!
Please make sure your child has socks, closed toed shoes, sleeping bag, and pillow. Photo membership cards need to be turned in at check-in. If your child cannot attend, you must cancel 24 hours in advance to receive credit.
Age: 4-12
Fee: Facility Members $12; Program Members $24
Schedule: Third Friday of each month, 6 – 10 pm
Arts & Crafts Classes
This class will teach basic arts & craft skills with Stephanie Arner. She will lead participants from the creative idea to completion. Each arts & craft project will be based on the participants skill level.
Age: 7 - 11 Years Old
Days & Times: Wednesdays, 5pm (Limit to 6 participants)
Monthly Session Fee: $50 – Facility Members/ $70 – Program Members
Jewelry by Design
Join local jewelry artist, Stephanie Arner, as she teaches basic jewelry making skills. Each session will progress based on participants skill level. By the end of the session the participants will have made several jewelry pieces. Preview the sample jewelry ideas in Kids Zone.
Age: 9 - 12 Years Old
Days & Times: Wednesday, 6pm (Limit to 6 participants)

Elementary Spanish Class
This program will teach the Spanish language and culture. Beginner/ Intermediate is for those who have had no formal education in Spanish Language. Intermediate/Advance participants need to have a foundation of Spanish, including a previous Spanish class or familiarity with the language. Both will focus on greetings, emotions, feelings, countries and cultures, shapes, parts of the body and face, animals and fruit. These skills will be taught through songs, activities, basic instruction, arts and crafts, and most of all through fun games.

Kids Zone
Your kids will beg you to work out so they can play! The Kids Zone is a suitable environment for children ages 6 weeks to 10 yrs. The Kids Zone offers a variety of activities play structure, coloring, crafts, and so much more! Staff on duty are CPR and First Aid trained and attentive to the children's needs. What a way for families to develop spirit, mind and body.

Policies:
- Must have Family or Single Parent membership.
- Children must wear socks while in the Kids Zone.
- Parents must remain in the facility while their child/children are in the Kids Zone.
- Children must be signed in and out by their parent/guardian only.
- For your child's safety, we will collect the child's and parent's photo membership cards when you sign your child into the Kids Zone.
- No food or drinks allowed in the Kids Zone.
- Please refrain from bringing sick children into the Kids Zone.

Tae Kwon Do - School Enrichment
Available at Brooker Creek, Cypress and Forest Lakes Elementary
These programs will be held at the schools and lessons are held with Tae Kwon Do Master Craig.

Our program combines challenging drills and fun activities in a structured environment to develop strength, flexibility, coordination and realistic self-defense skills.

Preschool & Youth Wellness
Parents-Tot: for ages 2 1/2 to 4 years old: A fun class designed for parents and child with music, movement and learning and meets every Wednesday from 10:45- 11:30am.
Kids Yoga: an instruction to Yoga in a relaxed setting. Its recommended for school-age participants. This class meets every Thursday from 3:45 - 4:30pm.
Youth Orientations 10 - 12 year olds can use the Wellness Center after a Youth Orientation. Please ask Members Service Desk for the next date and time.
Elementary & Youth Swim Lessons

PYP Piranhas Swim Team
We are a year-round competitive swim program where a positive and supportive environment is established to help improve stroke, technique, skills and goals for each individual swimmer in the program. PYP will build good people and good swimmers through constant attention to teaching and training.
Each workout group is designed to develop ability levels working toward individual goals which may include reaching Junior Olympic, YMCA Nationals, Sectional or National level qualifying times.

The North Pinellas Branch YMCA Youth Super Sports program runs mulitple seasons a year. Your sponsorship of the program with items or monentary donations helps provide needed supplies (i.e. sports balls, goals, coaches training materials, etc) If you are interested please take a look at this Youth Super Sports link.
Sports Coaching
Interested in coaching? Do you like to be a team leader? Do you enjoy youth sports? The YMCA needs your help! You can make a difference in a child's life by being a volunteer coach! Open Doors Scholarship Policy
The YMCA of the Suncoast’s Open Door policy states that no one is ever turned away due to the inability to pay. There are scholarships and financial assistance available to those who qualify. This assistance is made possible through our Annual Giving Campaign.
