Class Descriptions
LIVESTRONG at the YMCA
LIVESTRONG at the YMCA is open to anyone in the community who is affected by cancer. YMCA membership is not required. Our newest addition to this program is a 55 minute class on Mondays at 5pm that began in April. This class includes low impact cardio intervals, light weights and resistance bands, mat exercise and stretching, and is motivating, encouraging, fun, and non-competitive.
At the YMCA we know that keeping your strength, both physically and spiritually during cancer recovery is important. Join others who are going through this journey today. CPR/AED First Aid Certification Classes
Class Schedule Flyer
Classes will be held at the North Pinellas Branch YMCA. CPR/AED certifications are valid for one year. First Aid certifications are valid for three years. Participants may attend CPR/AED portion only if they choose, but MUST register for entire course. Evening classes are two-part classes and participants MUST plan to attend both sessions for certification. Upon successful completion of the course, students will receive American Red Cross CPR certification. Participant must successfully complete all skills and pass written test with 80%, for certification. For more information or to register for a class, please visit our Member Service Desk. Adult classes meet from 6-10:00 pm, Child/Infant classes meet from 5-10:00 pm.

Wellness Consultation
Begin your journey with a
Wellness Consultation. One of our trained staff will meet with you
to discuss your wellness goals. By learning about your likes and
dislikes, your goals and objectives, as well as your motivations
and frustrations, our caring staff will help you explore the road
to health and design a plan that is right for you.
Introductory
Exercise Orientation
Our staff will take the time
to familiarize you with the equipment, exercises and /or classes
best designed to help your reach your goals. Follow-up sessions
may be scheduled as you like, until you are comfortable with your
routine or when you are ready to make some changes.
Personal Training
Our certified personal trainers
are motivators, educators and role models. They will provide individualized
instruction tailored to your lifestyle and fitness goals.

Working on Weights
How can I get started with a workout plan that produces results? Learn which equipment is the best for me to use? Learn how to use the equipment safely and effectively? Make my workouts FUN!? Meet other members with similar goals?
Join our Working on Weights (WOW) program. This class is for women and men ages 16 and up. Work with a Certified Trainer to develop and maintain proper technique, set and achieve goals, and enjoy working out with a small group.
2 x 1.5 hr classes per week for 4 weeks
2, 3 or 4 participants per class

Massage
Balance spirit, mind and
body through massage therapy at the North Pinellas Branch. With
services ranging from neuromuscular to deep tissue, Catherine Stanley, LMT, will work with you to determine
how massage therapy can best serve your goals of health and fitness.

Group Exercise
Our Group Exercise Program offers
a wide range of classes for different abilities and interests. With
everything from Step Aerobics to Zumba, you're sure to find a class
that's right for you. Try our yoga, pilates and qigong classes to
balance the spirit, mind and body. Please view our schedule for

Cycling Classes
Our cycling classes are a
perfect way to utilize cardiovascular equipment in a group setting.
Our trained instructors will help you get started, with focus on
setup, form and technique. You'll come for the workout and stay
for the fun! Reserve your bike up to 24 hours prior to class by
calling our Member Services Desk.
Water Exercise
Enjoy a fitness class in
our beautiful outdoor pool! Heated during the winter months, this
is a perfect year-round workout that strengthens the cardio-respiratory
system and the muscles, while taking it easy on the joints.
Classes for Kids and Families
At the YMCA we build strong kids, strong families, and strong communities. Our family classes are a great way to play! With Cardio Kick Jam, Zumba and Nordic Walking for families, Kids Yoga for school age children, and Parent-tot class for preschoolers, you and your children will get active and have fun with your YMCA friends.
SilverSneakers®
Fitness Program
The SilverSneakers® Fitness
Program is the nation's leading exercise program designed exclusively
for older adults. The basic SilverSneakers® Fitness Program
membership includes the use of all the North Pinellas Branch has
to offer. Special SilverSneakers® Fitness Program exercise classes
are available. The classes have certified instructors who guide
participants through exercises that focus on strength, flexibility,
mobility, range of motion, balance, agility, and coordination to
improve activities for daily living. Please contact us for more

A great class for seniors!
Strength and range of motion benefits are the focus of this creative
exercise program. Participants may sit or stand. Classes include
SilverSneakers I, SilverSneakers II and YogaStretch.
