Don't Miss the YMCA Clearwater Flats Fishing Classic!

The 9th Annual YMCA Clearwater Flats Fishing Classic is coming up fast, and we hope you'll join us for this exciting event! The catch-and-release tournament will be held on Friday, April 16th. Categories include amateur angler and professional guide. Registration is just $100 per angler, or $1000 to reserve a professionally guided boat hosting up to three anglers. Whether you're in the boat, kayak, or a landlubber, this tournament is for you. This year, we'll be awarding over $1500 in CASH prizes. Targeted species include Snook, Trout and Redfish. Cash awards will be given to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners in the Amateur Category for all three species:

 

1st Place Winners Each Receive $350

2nd Place Winners Each Receive $150

3rd Place Winners Each Receive $75

(all winners in the Pro Guide Category will receive plaques)

Catch-and-release tournament covers FL West Central Coast waters in two divisions:  Amateur Adult and Professional Guide. Targeted fish are Snook, Redfish and Trout.  Entry fee is $100 per angler. Amateur Anglers Registration

This is a catch-and-release tournament open to all anglers conforming to Florida Fishing Regulations whose entry form and fees are received by April 15th 2010 , by 6 p.m. Online registrations must be received by April 13th, 2010 at 6 p.m. If you miss the online registration cut-off you may register at the Captain’s Party.

A parent or guardian must accompany participants under 16 years of age.

Please complete the following enrollment form, make your payment online or print your registration form and return with payment to the Clearwater Branch YMCA.  NO REFUNDS, NO TRANSFERS, OR SUBSTITUTIONS of contestant’s entry fee for any reason. Tournament officials have the right to refuse any entry.

Contestant Classification

All entries will be classified and judged under the following categories:

Amateur Adult (16 and older)
Professional Guide (If licensed Captain on board)

**Any boat having a professional guide aboard will be judged in the Professional Category.

Fishing Zone

Fishing is permitted anywhere in the West Central Florida region, except where prohibited by law.

Fishing Hours

Saturday, April 24th, 2010

Amateur Start time:  6 a.m.
Contestants may leave any launch site. The check-in point will be the Carlouel Yacht Club Dock. Check in opens at 11:30 a.m. and will close at 2 p.m. for all Amateur anglers. You MUST check in by 2 p.m. to qualify for scoring.
Amateur Awards Presentation: 2:30 p.m.

Only photos of your catch will be accepted at the check-in. Official Florida Saltwater Fishing Regulations will apply and contestants are presumed to be informed.

Tackle and Equipment

Fish must be caught on hook and line method.  No spear fishing and/or netting permitted to land fish. Artificial and live baits, and any combination of the two listed, are allowed.  Baits can be deployed from the vessel at any legal location. Each participant must have a valid saltwater fishing license that may be checked by the tournament officials at the time of weigh-in. (Professional Captain’s carry fishing licenses for all anglers fishing on their boat.)

Scoring

The winner of each category is determined by the largest fish species in length, as verified by photograph. Measuring boards will be provided for each boat. NEW THIS YEAR - Each boat must provide their own digital camera for scoring. Cameras must have a removable memory card that does not require special software for picture viewing purposes. Please attend the Captain’s Meeting on April 15th at 6:30 p.m. for scoring instructions. In the event of a tie, the winner will be determined by the earliest check-in time. 

Any contestant found to be in violation of any tournament rules and regulations, or that of the Florida Saltwater Fishing Regulations, will be subject to disqualification from this tournament and all future tournaments.

Professional Guide Eligibility/Registration

This catch-and-release tournament is open to all anglers conforming to Florida Fishing Regulations. Entry forms and requests for a Professionally Guided boat MUST be received NO LATER THAN APRIL 10TH AT 5 P.M.
