FREE Swimming Lessons
The Katelyn Foundation’s mission is to promote child safety through public awareness and education. These lessons, sponsored by the Katelyn Foundation, are separate from all other YMCA swim lessons. We are offering these FREE swim lessons ONLY to members who are on financial assistance as part of the Open Doors program and non-members who qualify for financial assistance through the Open Doors program. These lessons are strictly for beginning swimmers and water safety lessons for non-swimmers.

CPR/ First Aid Certification Courses
Classes will be held at the Clearwater Branch YMCA. Upon successful completion of the course, students will receive American Red Cross CPR certification. Participant must successfully complete all skills and pass written test with 80%, for certification. For more information call 727-461-9622.

Lifeguard Training
Prerequisites for YMCA Lifeguard Certification Course:
- Participants must be at least 16 years of age by the last day of class.
- Participants must be able to tread water for 2 minutes using legs only, perform a shallow dive, a surface dive (feet first & head first to 9 feet) and swim under water 15 feet.
- Participants must pass a swim pre-test on the first day of class which consists of a long shallow dive, 500 yard continuous swim with
100 yards of each of the following strokes:
- front crawl w/ head up
- breastroke w/head up
- side stroke
- one arm side stroke
- elementary back stroke kick only
This course includes YMCA lifeguard certification, certification in CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, Oxygen Administration certification and First Aid certification.
Participants should bring swimsuits, towels, pen and paper to each class. Participation and completion of the course does not guarantee certification. Participant must meet all prerequisites and pass all practical skills and written tests for certification. *Participants must attend all class sessions.

Class Dates and Times
Aquatic Bootcamp
Join instructors Victoria Cooper and Mike Morrall for low-impact, high intensity exercise in the pool including treading water, push-ups, sit-ups and cardio aerobics. This program is excellent for those teens and adults looking to shed a few pounds and build muscle using the water’s resistance. Participants must be at least 15 years old & must be comfortable in deep water but do not have to be great swimmers.
Schedule: Monday & Wednesday, 7:30-8:30 pm

Piranhas Swim Team
We are a year-round competitive swim program where a positive and supportive environment is established to help improve stroke, technique, skills and goals for each individual swimmer in the program. Piranhas Swim Team will build good people and good swimmers through constant attention to teaching and training.
Each workout group is designed to develop ability levels working toward individual goals which may include reaching Junior Olympic, YMCA Nationals, Sectional or National level qualifying times. We help you become the swimmer you have the potential to be!
Practice: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday 6:30-7:30 pm
Attendance is not required at all practices. Swimmers may attend as many or as few practices as they want.
Fee/monthly: $40 Facility Members; $60 Program Members
Prerequisites: Ages 6-17 and must be able to swim 25 yards of freestyle and backstroke.
Porpoise Club
Looking to join our PYP Competitive swim team? Porpoise Club focuses on swimming techniques, endurance training, and specific strokes that are necessary for joining swim team. Swimmers will work on starts and flip turns as well. Porpoise Club swimmers should be above a Fish ability level and must be able to swim 25 yards continuously with bilateral breathing.

Diving
Welcome to the Piranhas Diving Program at the YMCA of the Suncoast, Clearwater Branch. We are offering both beginner and advanced diving. Session will run month by month and Coach Dianne will be here on Saturday mornings to lead our program. Each session will consist of 1 practice per week for 4 weeks.
Age: 6-18
Fee: $25 Facility Members; $35 Program Members

Suncoast SwimFit Masters Swim Team
Suncoast SwimFit is a diverse swimming program for all adults. It is designed for adults from all walks of life and a wide range of ages from 18-100 years old. Whether you are a competitive swimmer, a tri-athlete looking for a low impact exercise program or cross-training—this program could be the one for you. Coached work-out days/times at the Clearwater YMCA:

Fees: Monthly: $25 Facility Members
This program runs in month-long sessions with practice 2 times a week. A minimum of 8 participants is required for this program to run.

Parent/Child swim
Age: 6 - 36 months
This course is designed to help children develop a sense of comfort and familiarity with the water. This course is taught through group instruction utilizing songs, games, and other fun educational activities. Children work on basic movements in the water while supported by the parent. This course introduces new skills when the parent and child are ready to learn. The parent must be in the water with child.

This course is an introduction to basic swimming skills for children with little or no water experience. This course also serves as a continuation for students developing basic swimming skills.

Age: 3-5 years
This course is an introduction to stroke development skills. Children enter this level with the ability to swim 20 feet independently. The instructor refines strokes and encourages children to swim 40 feet independently. This class is a continuation of stroke development skills.

Age: 6-12 years
This course is an introduction to basic swimming skills for children with little or no
water experience. The instructor helps the child develop a sense of comfort in the water and the ability to swim 15 yards independently.
Minnow/Fish
Intermediate/ Advanced
Age: 6-12 years
This course is an introduction to stroke development skills. Children enter this level with the ability to swim 15 yards independently.
Private Swim Lessons
Learn to swim in a more private format with one-on-one time with a certified swim instructor. Register for one lesson, or a package of 3, 5 or 10! Once registered, an instructor will call you and set up days and times for your lessons to fit your needs and the availability of the instructor. Each lesson is 30 minutes in length.
