Livestrong at the YMCA

The YMCA of the USA and the Lance Armstrong Foundation (LAF) has formed a partnership to look for opportunities to provide meaningful and successful wellness options for cancer survivors.

LIVESTRONG at the YMCA is open to anyone in the community who is affected by cancer. YMCA membership is not required. 

At the YMCA we know that keeping your strength, both physically and spiritually during cancer recovery is important. Join others who are going through this journey today. Learn more about this and other LIVESTRONG programs by contacting the Bardmoor branch at 727.394.9622.

SilverSneakers® Fitness Program

The SilverSneakers® Fitness Program is the nation's leading exercise program designed exclusively for older adults. The basic SilverSneakers® Fitness Program membership includes the use of all the Bardmoor Branch has to offer. Special SilverSneakers® Fitness Program exercise classes will also be available. The classes will use certified instructors to help guide participants through exercises that focus on strength, flexibility, mobility, range of motion, balance, agility, and coordination to improve activities for daily living. A great class for seniors! Strength and range of motion benefits are the focus of this creative exercise program. Participants may sit or stand.

Fit Kids, Active Kids

Promoting wellness through physical activity and nutrition. The Fit Kids class is a thirty minute class taught by Amber Avidon designed to teach your child about all aspects of health and wellness. The class will inspire your child to lead a lifestyle that is full of actions and activities that are good for them. Contact Ashley Carter for more details.

Fee: Free for Facility and Program Members
Schedule: Tuesdays, 6:00 pm

Ballroom Dance

Get ready to dance the night away with small group lessons, 4-week sessions. Learn the swing, cha-cha, rumba, fox trot, waltz, tango and many more. Instructor Gail Spear. Call for more detailed information.

Age: 18 and up
Fee: $28 Facility and Program Members; $40 Non-Members
Schedule: Fridays, 7:15-8:45 pm

Working on Weights

A progressive strength class. Small group personal training, 3-6 participants.

  • Boost your metabolism.
  • Burn more fat
  • Increase Muscle tone

Age: 18 and above
Fee: $65 Facility Members; $105 Program and Non-Members
Schedule: Mondays & Thursdays, 4:45-5:45 pm

Core Fitness

Core Fitness is a combination of calisthenics and outdoor running/walking (including bridge runs and stairs), designed to strengthen all major muscle groups and increase cardiovascular capacity. This class is designed for all levels of fitness. The core Fitness environment is positive and motivating. Each participant receives a Core Fitness T-shirt upon completion of the session.  Classes are 4 weeks long ongoing throughout the year with a 1 week break in between each session.
Fee : $55 for members/ $85 for non-members.

Wellness Consultation

After joining, you will have the opportunity to meet with a YMCA Wellness Coach to establish what is the best direction for you based on your needs and goals. At the YMCA, we understand that relationships are the key to successful change, and this session is an important step in that direction. Your coach will listen to you and help you to put together a plan to get you started. Then he or she will make sure that you meet the right people at the YMCA to walk side-by-side with you on your journey to better health!

Wellness Orientation

Our staff will take the time to familiarize you with the equipment, exercises and/or classes best designed to help you reach your goals. Follow-up sessions may be scheduled as you like, until you are comfortable with your routine or when you are ready to make some changes.

Personal Training

One-on-one personal training is available for members. Personal training is designed to give you individual training and instant feedback on exercise performance. All YMCA personal trainers hold ACE, AFAA, YMCA Personal Trainer or YMCA Fitness Specialist. Training to help you prepare your mind, body and spirit for a big event like a marathon or if you just want assistance to improve your body dynamics.
